Why are you a GMMP coordinator? What motivated you to lead the GMMP?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am part of Catalejas<\/a>, a network of women communicators who promote the right to fair representation of women in the media. I have been participating in the GMMP since 2000. That experience and my interest in deepening this specialized research action led me to assume the national coordination in 2015 with the support of the local GMMP team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How are you using the GMMP methodology, tools and findings? How have any of these dimensions of the GMMP shaped the work of your organization, institution or network?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The results of the 2nd GMMP<\/a> reinforced our concern, as a leadership team, to propose alternatives to the invisibility of women in media narratives and in the media. So, we created the Women on Air Network (2002\u20132015) as a space for training from a gender perspective and for meetings between communicators of diverse ethnic identities and territories who were venturing into community, feminist, and indigenous communication in the post-Peace Accords context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since then, we have linked the GMMP data, methodology, and tools to discussions, academic texts, newspaper articles, and workshops with university students and civil society organizations to analyze the relationship between sexist stereotypes and biases in the news coverage of violence against women, as well as to develop strategies for the deconstruction of these practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What positive change has the GMMP driven in your context? What contribution has it made to the process towards gender equality in or through the media?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reflections generated by the 6th GMMP<\/a> were the reference point for the messages of the campaign “We pray, but we also denounce \u2013 No more violence against women!” created by CEDEPCA, an institutional partner of WACC and a member of the Women on Air and Catalejas Network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we mark the GMMP\u2019s 30th anniversary now in 2025, why do you believe that it is crucial for the GMMP to continue?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evidence generated systematically by the GMMP over 30 years continues to be essential in the efforts to make critical voices heard in the face of media violence and fundamentalism, as well as to advance a fair representation of women in the media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 es usted el\/la coordinador\/a del GMMP? \u00bfQu\u00e9 le motiv\u00f3 a dirigir el GMMP?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Formo parte de Catalejas<\/a>. Participo en el GMMP desde el a\u00f1o 2000. Esa experiencia y mi inter\u00e9s por profundizar en esta investigaci\u00f3n-acci\u00f3n especializada, me llev\u00f3 a la coordinaci\u00f3n nacional en 2015 con el apoyo del equipo impulsor local del GMMP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00bfC\u00f3mo utiliza (o ha aplicado) la metodolog\u00eda, las herramientas y\/o los resultados del GMMP? \u00bfC\u00f3mo ha influido alguna de estas dimensiones del GMMP en el trabajo de su organizaci\u00f3n, instituci\u00f3n o red?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los resultados del 2\u00ba GMMP<\/a> reforzaron nuestra inquietud, como equipo impulsor, por plantear alternativas ante la invisibilidad de las mujeres en las narrativas medi\u00e1ticas y en los medios. As\u00ed que, creamos la Red Mujeres al Aire (2002-2015) como espacio de formaci\u00f3n desde la perspectiva de g\u00e9nero; y de encuentro entre comunicadoras de diversas identidades \u00e9tnicas y territorios que incursionaban en la comunicaci\u00f3n comunitaria, feminista e ind\u00edgena en el contexto post Acuerdos de Paz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Desde entonces, vinculamos los datos, metodolog\u00eda y herramientas del GMMP a conversatorios, textos acad\u00e9micos, art\u00edculos period\u00edsticos y talleres con estudiantes de universidades y organizaciones de sociedad civil; para analizar la relaci\u00f3n entre estereotipos sexistas y sesgos en el tratamiento informativo reproductor de la violencia contra las mujeres; adem\u00e1s de posicionar estrategias para la deconstrucci\u00f3n de estas pr\u00e1cticas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00bfQu\u00e9 cambios positivos ha producido el GMMP en su contexto? \u00bfQu\u00e9 contribuci\u00f3n ha hecho al proceso de promoci\u00f3n de la igualdad entre mujeres y hombres en los medios o a trav\u00e9s de ellos?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Las reflexiones generadas por el 6\u00ba GMMP<\/a> fueron el referente de los mensajes de la campa\u00f1a Oramos, pero tambi\u00e9n denunciamos \u00a1No + violencia contra las mujeres! creada por CEDEPCA, socia institucional de WACC e integrante de la Red Mujeres al Aire y Catalejas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De cara al 30\u00ba aniversario del GMMP en 2025, \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 cree que es esencial que contin\u00fae?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Las evidencias del GMMP generadas sistem\u00e1ticamente durante 30 a\u00f1os, siguen siendo imprescindibles en los esfuerzos por hacer resonar voces cr\u00edticas ante la violencia medi\u00e1tica y los fundamentalismos; as\u00ed como por una representaci\u00f3n justa de las mujeres en los medios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
