Why are you a GMMP coordinator? What motivated you to lead the GMMP?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The media play a very important role in the construction of social reality, which means that they play a relevant role in the socialization of people in all aspects such as sentimental education, appropriation of knowledge, life experiences, recognition of prejudices, participation and political communication, among others. This reading of the media motivated me to direct the GMMP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Analyzing the media and the news coverage they give to women and vulnerable populations requires local, national, and international comparisons to identify the trends of exclusion and invisibility that we suffer on a daily basis. It is necessary to highlight these trends and fight them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How are you using the GMMP methodology, tools and findings? How have any of these dimensions of the GMMP shaped the work of your organization, institution or network?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Universidad del Rosario heads the Gender Observatory<\/a> (Danghelly Z\u00fa\u00f1iga Reyes) and the Centro Plurales<\/a> (Flora Rodr\u00edguez Rond\u00f3n) participates in the alliance between the media monitoring company Global News Colombia (Luisa D\u00edaz \u00c1ngel) to carry out pilot projects of news media analysis applying the GMMP tools to identify changes on the results obtained in 2020 and determine if global trends are replicated in Colombia. This will give us a preliminary reading of what is happening in the Colombian news media and will allow us to refine our focus for the next monitoring exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What positive change has the GMMP driven in your context? What contribution has it made to the process towards gender equality in or through the media?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There has been an increase in the critical analysis of news production and the representation of gender and vulnerable populations. This is evidenced, for example, by the increased concern about the way women are represented in the media, the way they are referenced in news stories, how their invisibility means they appear as victims and very rarely as authoritative sources on specific issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we look to the GMMP\u2019s 30th anniversary in 2025, why do you believe that it is crucial for the GMMP to continue?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proliferation of screens to which citizens have access for information and entertainment allows for a proliferation of stories and a sophistication of narratives. However, there is a tendency for the perpetuation of the reproduction of gender stereotypes, the normalization of the invisibility of vulnerable groups, and the exploitation of the sexuality of bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is very important to become aware of the multiple forms of exclusion and persecution of difference that are supported by these stories and narratives. Visibility is achieved through monitoring, tracking, and exposing the way in which women are represented in the media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 es usted el\/la coordinador\/a del GMMP? \u00bfQu\u00e9 le motiv\u00f3 a dirigir el GMMP?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los medios de comunicaci\u00f3n tienen un papel muy importante en la construcci\u00f3n de la realidad social, esto implica que cumplen un papel relevante en la socializaci\u00f3n de las personas en todos los aspectos como educaci\u00f3n sentimental, apropiaci\u00f3n de conocimientos, experiencias de vida, reconocimiento de prejuicios, participaci\u00f3n y comunicaci\u00f3n pol\u00edtica, entre otros. Esta lectura de los medios me motiv\u00f3 a dirigir el GMMP, analizar los medios y el cubrimiento informativo que hacen sobre las mujeres y la poblaci\u00f3n vulnerable requiere comparaciones locales, nacionales e internacionales para identificar las tendencias de exclusi\u00f3n e invisibilizaci\u00f3n que sufrimos diariamente. Es necesario evidenciar estas tendencias y combatirlas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00bfC\u00f3mo utiliza (o ha aplicado) la metodolog\u00eda, las herramientas y\/o los resultados del GMMP? \u00bfC\u00f3mo ha influido alguna de estas dimensiones del GMMP en el trabajo de su organizaci\u00f3n, instituci\u00f3n o red?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Universidad del Rosario encabeza del Observatorio de G\u00e9nero<\/a> (Danghelly Z\u00fa\u00f1iga Reyes) y el Centro Plurales<\/a> (Flora Rodr\u00edguez Rond\u00f3n) participa en la alianza entre la empresa de monitoreo de medios Global News Colombia (Luisa D\u00edaz \u00c1ngel) para realizar pilotos de an\u00e1lisis de medios informativos aplicando las herramientas de GMMP para identificar cambios sobre los resultados obtenidos en 2020 e identificar si las tendencias globales se replican en Colombia. \u00bfQu\u00e9 cambios positivos ha producido el GMMP en su contexto? \u00bfQu\u00e9 contribuci\u00f3n ha hecho al proceso de promoci\u00f3n de la igualdad entre mujeres y hombres en los medios o a trav\u00e9s de ellos?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Se ha incrementado el an\u00e1lisis cr\u00edtico de la producci\u00f3n informativa y la representaci\u00f3n del g\u00e9nero y de las poblaciones vulnerables. Esto se evidencia, por ejemplo, en el incremento en la preocupaci\u00f3n por la forma en que son representadas las mujeres en los medios informativos, la forma en la cual aparecen referenciadas en las notas period\u00edsticas, c\u00f3mo su invisibilizaci\u00f3n implica su aparici\u00f3n como v\u00edctimas y muy pocas veces como fuentes dotadas de autoridad en temas espec\u00edficos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De cara al 30\u00ba aniversario del GMMP en 2025, \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 cree que es esencial que contin\u00fae?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

La multiplicaci\u00f3n de las pantallas a las cuales la ciudadan\u00eda tiene acceso para informarse y entretenerse permite que haya una multiplicaci\u00f3n de relatos y sofisticaci\u00f3n de narrativas. Sin embargo, hay una tendencia a la perdurabilidad de la reproducci\u00f3n de estereotipos de g\u00e9nero, naturalizaci\u00f3n de invisibilizaciones de grupos vulnerables y explotaci\u00f3n de la sexualidad de los cuerpos. Es de gran importancia tomar conciencia de las m\u00faltiples formas de exclusi\u00f3n y persecuci\u00f3n de la diferencia que encuentran soporte en esos relatos y narrativas. La visibilizaci\u00f3n se logra a trav\u00e9s del monitoreo, el seguimiento y exposici\u00f3n de la forma en la cual las mujeres somos representadas en los medios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
