Why are you a GMMP coordinator? What motivated you to lead the GMMP?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I got to know the GMMP during my PhD in Communication Sciences at the University of Coimbra in Portugal. From this contact, I learned that Brazil was not participating in this important monitoring and, therefore, there was a big gap in the production of relevant and systematic data on gender representations in Brazilian news.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the aim of ensuring that Brazil could take part in the monitoring again and that the different regions of Brazil could participate more widely, we set up a large group made up of small regional groups made up of volunteers linked to public teaching and research institutions. With the participation of teachers, students and researchers, Brazil rejoined the GMMP in 2020 despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How are you using the GMMP methodology, tools and findings? How have any of these dimensions of the GMMP shaped the work of your organization, institution or network?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since then, this group has maintained continuous and collaborative work that has resulted in conferences, communications at congresses and scientific events, the publication of scientific articles and an e-book<\/a> and the application of the methodology (and its adaptations) in course completion papers, master’s dissertations, doctoral theses and research and extension projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What positive change has the GMMP driven in your context? What contribution has it made to the process towards gender equality in or through the media?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

All these initiatives have been reflected in the creation of an important space for discussion and reflection on women’s human rights in and through Brazilian journalistic discourses, in accordance with Section J of the Beijing Platform for Action<\/a>, in the training and workspaces of journalism professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we look to the GMMP\u2019s 30th anniversary in 2025, why do you believe that it is crucial for the GMMP to continue?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2025, on the 30th anniversary of the GMMP, we will expand monitoring in Brazil through regional groups in all 26 Brazilian states and the Federal District. With this expansion, as well as taking monitoring to more spaces, we should also increase the media monitored and thus produce a more comprehensive picture of media representations of gender in Brazilian journalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Por que o senhor \u00e9 um coordenador do GMMP?<\/em><\/strong> O que motivou o senhor a liderar o GMMP?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conheci o GMMP durante o Doutoramento em Ci\u00eancias da Comunica\u00e7\u00e3o na Universidade de Coimbra, em Portugal. A partir deste contato, soube que o Brasil estava sem participar deste importante monitoramento e, portanto, havia uma grande lacuna na produ\u00e7\u00e3o de dados relevantes e sistem\u00e1ticos sobre as representa\u00e7\u00f5es de g\u00eanero no notici\u00e1rio brasileiro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Com o objetivo de garantir a retomada do Brasil no monitoramento e a participa\u00e7\u00e3o ampliada das diferentes regi\u00f5es do Brasil, constru\u00edmos um grande grupo composto por pequenos grupos regionais compostos por volunt\u00e1rios\/as ligados a institui\u00e7\u00f5es p\u00fablicas de ensino e pesquisa. A partir da participa\u00e7\u00e3o de docentes, estudantes e pesquisadores\/as, o Brasil voltou a integrar o GMMP em 2020 apesar dos desafios impostos pela pandemia de Covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Como o senhor est\u00e1 usando a metodologia, as ferramentas e as descobertas do GMMP?<\/strong> Como alguma dessas dimens\u00f5es do GMMP moldou o trabalho de sua organiza\u00e7\u00e3o, institui\u00e7\u00e3o ou rede?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Desde ent\u00e3o, este grupo tem mantido um trabalho cont\u00ednuo e colaborativo que j\u00e1 resultou na realiza\u00e7\u00e3o de confer\u00eancias, comunica\u00e7\u00f5es em congressos e eventos cient\u00edficos, publica\u00e7\u00e3o de artigos cient\u00edficos e de um e-book<\/a> e na aplica\u00e7\u00e3o da metodologia (e suas adapta\u00e7\u00f5es) em trabalhos de conclus\u00e3o de curso, disserta\u00e7\u00f5es de mestrado, teses de doutorado e projetos de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o e extens\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Que mudan\u00e7as positivas o GMMP promoveu no seu contexto?<\/strong> Que contribui\u00e7\u00e3o ele fez para o processo de igualdade de g\u00eanero na m\u00eddia ou por meio dela?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Todas estas iniciativas t\u00eam se refletido na cria\u00e7\u00e3o de um importante espa\u00e7o de discuss\u00e3o e reflex\u00e3o sobre os direitos humanos das mulheres nos\/atrav\u00e9s dos discursos jornal\u00edsticos brasileiros, em conformidade com a se\u00e7\u00e3o J da Plataforma de A\u00e7\u00e3o de Pequim<\/a>, nos espa\u00e7os de forma\u00e7\u00e3o e atua\u00e7\u00e3o dos\/as profissionais do Jornalismo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Como estamos prestes a comemorar o 30\u00ba anivers\u00e1rio do GMMP agora em 2025, por que o senhor acredita que \u00e9 fundamental que o GMMP continue?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Em 2025, nos 30 anos do GMMP, vamos ampliar o monitoramento no Brasil a partir de grupos regionais em todos os 26 estados brasileiros e no Distrito Federal. Com esta amplia\u00e7\u00e3o, al\u00e9m de levar o monitoramento a mais espa\u00e7os, deveremos tamb\u00e9m aumentar os meios monitorados e, com isso, produzir um retrato mais abrangente das representa\u00e7\u00f5es midi\u00e1ticas de g\u00eanero no jornalismo brasileiro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
