Why are you a GMMP coordinator? What motivated you to lead the GMMP?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GMMP is the first and only analysis of media content with a feminist perspective that gathers evidence of women’s inequality in the news. For this reason, the media observatory Women’s Communication and Information (CIMAC)<\/a>, as a pioneer organization with 35 years\u2019 experience in the defense of human rights through communication work and journalism, was interested in being part of this global initiative and taking it to all of the states that make up our country through the alliance with the National Network of Journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How are you using the GMMP methodology, tools and findings? How have any of these dimensions of the GMMP shaped the work of your organization, institution or network?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have applied the GMMP methodology to analysis of the media representation of specific topics such as women’s political participation, the right to choose, defense of human rights, and violence against women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What positive change has the GMMP driven in your context? What contribution has it made to the process towards gender equality in or through the media?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both the process of developing and implementing the GMMP and its results have enabled us to influence media agendas, the editorial lines of the media and their ethical codes, the academy and teaching of journalism, and legislative decision-making. I\u2019d like to highlight two examples:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
