\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>The kit is the result of collaboration between the World Association of Christian Communication (WACC) and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) to redress gender disparities in news media content.<\/p>\n

Little progress has been made since the 1995 Beijing Platform for Action called for more gender sensitivity in the media and self-regulatory mechanisms to eliminate gender-biased programming. Research such as the Global Media Monitoring Project shows just how marginalised women remain in the news. In 2010, the GMMP revealed that women make up only 24% of the people heard, read about or seen in the news.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The IFJ launched the Ethical Journalism Initiative to confront on-going discrimination in the news and reconnect journalists to their mission by enforcing core ethical standards. Challenging sensationalism and stereotypes, checking facts, abiding by codes of conduct, supporting independent self-regulatory bodies are some of the actions identified to uphold media quality and rebuild the public\u2019s trust in the news. Fair gender portrayal is one of the issues to be given priority if media hope to fully reflect the role women play in society. The widespread use of social media, blogs and the development of online news should not be overlooked. Numerous cases reveal a failure to portray gender issues fairly and accurately and very few initiatives exist to develop ethical standards and avoid unfair and outdated stereotypes.<\/p>\n

The kit aims to provide an answer to the gender gap in news content and lack of self-regulatory mechanisms – where these do not exist – to confront gender bias. It is organised in two books that may be read independently of each other. Book 1<\/a><\/strong> discusses conceptual issues pertaining to gender, media and professional ethics. Book 2<\/a><\/strong> presents gender-ethical reporting guidelines on several thematic areas.<\/p>\n

Depuis, on remarque peu de progr\u00e8s quant \u00e0 ces enjeux. Les recherches comme le Projet mondial de monitorage des m\u00e9dias (GMMP, selon le sigle anglais) d\u00e9montrent \u00e0 quel point les femmes demeurent marginalis\u00e9es dans les actualit\u00e9s. En 2010, le GMMP r\u00e9v\u00e9lait que les femmes ne constituent que 24 p. cent des personnes que l\u2019on entend, desquelles on parle et que l\u2019on voit dans les nouvelles.Vol2<\/p>\n

La FIJ a lanc\u00e9 l\u2019Initiative pour un journalisme \u00e9thique (IJE) afin de contester la discrimination qui persiste dans les nouvelles et pour rapprocher les journalistes de leur mission, en mettant en vigueur des normes fondamentales au chapitre de l\u2019\u00e9thique. Pour arriver \u00e0 maintenir la qualit\u00e9 du travail des m\u00e9dias tout en restaurant la confiance du public envers les nouvelles, on a d\u00e9termin\u00e9 quelques pistes de solution, parmi lesquelles : contester le sensationnalisme et les st\u00e9r\u00e9otypes; v\u00e9rifier les faits; respecter les codes de conduite; soutenir les entit\u00e9s d\u2019autor\u00e9glementation ind\u00e9pendantes. Si les m\u00e9dias aspirent \u00e0 refl\u00e9ter ad\u00e9quatement le r\u00f4le des femmes dans la soci\u00e9t\u00e9, alors il faut mettre en priorit\u00e9 la juste repr\u00e9sentation des genres. L\u2019utilisation massive des m\u00e9dias sociaux, des blogues ainsi que le d\u00e9veloppement des actualit\u00e9s en ligne doivent \u00eatre pris en compte. On t\u00e9moigne de nombreux exemples o\u00f9 l\u2019on omet de pr\u00e9senter les questions li\u00e9es au genre de mani\u00e8re \u00e9quitable ou exacte. Qui plus est, il existe bien peu d\u2019initiatives travaillant \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper des normes \u00e9thiques ou \u00e0 \u00e9viter l\u2019emploi de st\u00e9r\u00e9otypes injustes et \u00e9cul\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

Cette trousse d\u2019apprentissage vise \u00e0 combler le foss\u00e9 existant entre les genres dans le contenu des actualit\u00e9s et l\u2019absence de m\u00e9canismes d\u2019autor\u00e9glementation qui contestent les pr\u00e9jug\u00e9s sexistes. Elle est pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e en deux volets pouvant \u00eatre consult\u00e9s de mani\u00e8re distincte. Le Volume 1<\/a><\/strong> aborde les questions conceptuelles relatives au genre, aux m\u00e9dias et \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9thique professionnelle. La FIP lanz\u00f3 la Iniciativa de Periodismo \u00c9tico con el objetivo de confrontar la presente discriminaci\u00f3n en las noticias y re-vincular a las\/los periodistas con su misi\u00f3n, mediante el cumplimiento de est\u00e1ndares \u00e9ticos. Cuestionar el sensacionalismo y estereotipos, verificar hechos, guiarse por c\u00f3digos de conducta y apoyar \u00f3rganos auto regulatorios independientes, son algunas de las medidas identificadas para elevar la calidad de los medios y reconstruir la confianza p\u00fablica en las noticias. Una representaci\u00f3n equitativa de g\u00e9nero es uno de los temas que debe recibir prioridad si los medios desean reflejar plenamente el papel que las mujeres desempe\u00f1an en la sociedad. No debe pasarse por alto el uso extendido de los medios sociales, blogs y el desarrollo de noticieros en l\u00ednea. Numerosos casos revelan una falta de representaci\u00f3n equitativa y precisa de g\u00e9nero, y existen muy pocas iniciativas para desarrollar est\u00e1ndares \u00e9ticos para evitar estereotipos desfavorables y obsoletos.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Esta herramienta busca proporcionar una respuesta al vac\u00edo que en cuestiones de g\u00e9nero presentan los contenidos noticiosos y la falta de mecanismos auto-reguladores que confronten el sesgo de g\u00e9nero. Est\u00e1 organizado en dos libros cuya lectura se puede hacer independiente uno del otro. En el Libro 1<\/a><\/strong> se discuten aspectos conceptuales relativos al g\u00e9nero, los medios y la \u00e9tica profesional, mientras que el Libro 2<\/a><\/strong> presenta directrices para realizar reportajes con una perspectiva \u00e9tica de g\u00e9nero en diversas \u00e1reas tem\u00e1ticas.<\/p>\n
