Call for Submissions: Online media project "Imagining Equality"

Be part of an extraordinary global conversation on women's human rights!

Submit journalistic articles, photographs, videos and more to a new global online media project “Imagining Equality: Your Voices on Women’s Human Rights” created by the International Museum of Women (IMOW) in collaboration with the Global Fund for Women.

The project organizers ask: "As the UN prepares to create a new set of international development goals...what issues should be at the forefront as we imagine a new future for the world’s women?" Have your say by uploading to the online gallery your work that explores any aspect of equality and women's human rights such as poverty, violence and education.

The deadline for submissions is April 30, 2014.

Selected submissions will be curated for inclusion in an online exhibition to be launched in June 2014.

Advancing gender equality in media

In my opinion, the most effective strategy to achieve gender-sensitive media is:

Increased gender-awareness training of media professionals
Greater action by audiences to hold their media accountable
Stricter enforcement of gender-focussed media codes and policies
More female journalists, editors and media house managers

#MeToo #TimesUp

In my view, society is less tolerant of sexist stereotypes in the media now than three years ago.
