On March 25, teams in more than 130 countries across seven continents took part in the global monitoring day for the 2015 edition of the Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP).
The photos and engaging conversations on social media attest to a vibrant movement for gender equality in and through the news media. From students, to civil society activists, to media professionals and university researchers, the goal was to apply one standard research instrument to understand gender differences in print, broadcast, online and social media portrayal and representation of women and men.
The findings will be analyzed to show global, regional and country-level change over the 20-year period since the first GMMP in 1995, and to direct action towards achieving gender equality in news content.
