Greetings from Nepal!

We really enjoyed the Monitoring Day though the monitors have been located in various places of Nepal. We couldn't monitor Nepali media in one place, it was done in 9 places of the country. As a Coordinator, I made and received very many calls from the monitors throughout the country. Most of the monitors are media and women rights activists in the districts. Due to the electricity loadshedding, recording of television news became really tough, anyway we managed it.

Beijing +20: In my opinion...

The most important contribution that the Beijing Platform for Action has made to advancing gender equality in and through the media is:

Setting global standards to which governments and the media can be held accountable
Bringing coherence to and greater understanding of civil society initiatives on gender, women and media
Raising the profile of work on 'women and media' as important for addressing gender inequalities in women's lived experiences.
