International Women’s Day (IWD) campaigns step up demands for the respect of women’s basic civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights.
Launched annually by UNESCO on the occasion of IWD, the Women Make the News Campaign seeks to raise awareness on concerns about gender equality in and through the media, driving debate, and encouraging action-oriented solutions until global objectives are met.
The 2014 Campaign theme “Advancing Global Partnerships to Achieving Gender Equality in and through Media” is a direct follow-up to commitments made last December by the Global Alliance on Media and Gender (GAMG).
